White Orchid Spa

Welcoming a new year can be seen as welcoming 365 new possibilities. It’s a time to reflect on past accomplishments, behaviors, and experiences and it’s also a new time to build better habits, create new goals, and harness new opportunities. Many begin a new year by creating goals and resolutions; here are some of our tips to help you create a healthy and balanced new year!

Resolutions don’t always have to be about eliminating.
For many, resolutions are focused on eliminating something negative in their life: extra weight, bad habits, or certain behaviors. But remember, resolutions don’t have to be all about sacrificing – some of the best New Year resolutions are directed at adding something versus taking away. When planning out your resolutions, don’t forget about incorporating more.

More Water.
Water is a crucial part of our existence. It is used by our body for many purposes: to deliver nutrients to cells, regulate temperature, keep organs functioning properly, and improving things like your skin, mood, and sleep! Aim to follow the 8×8 rule: eight 8oz glasses each day! If you’re like most of us and struggle to get in enough water, try our Coconut Water Enhancer from Pure Inventions. Its ultra-hydrating formula is free of sugar, calories, artificial sweeteners, caffeine and gluten! It’s a delicious treat with naturally occurring electrolytes to make hydrating easy. Enjoy more water with this on the go, zero calorie water beverage.

More Skincare.
Please do not forget sunscreen, even in the winter months. (Especially here in Florida!) UV rays are extremely harmful to the skin and cloudy, cool, winter days do not provide us protection from those damaging rays. Using a full-spectrum SPF such as Image Skincare’s Prevention+ SPF is a great way to hydrate and protect your skin. Hoping to undo some of damage done in years past? Consider Skinmedica’s Award Winning Trio, a perfectly curated skincare kit used as your daily treatment to improve fine lines, wrinkles, skin tone, and texture.

More Self-Care.
Whether it is relaxing with a good book, taking a long hot bath, or indulging in a relaxing facial and/or massage, we all need to take some extra time to take a deep breath, clear our minds, and move forward feeling rejuvenated. Try our Tranquility Ritual Massage with chamomile and lavender, warm stones and a stress-reducing scalp massage, or our Signature Ultra-Lift facial to indulge in some much needed “me-time” after the busy holiday season.

More Confidence.
Confidence can greatly impact one’s happiness. Taking steps to improve those stubborn love-handles or newly acquired signs of ageing can have a great impact on how we feel and act! Remember, there is no harm in utilizing tools to help you achieve your goals. Coolsculpting is a powerful tool that can help improve those exercise-resistant areas of fat, allowing you to see the results you’ve been working so hard to achieve. If ageing skin is your concern, try our Halo Resurfacing Laser that works to combat those pesky fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, scars, and skin laxity.

More Intimacy

Did you know there are 4 types of intimacy that can bring you closer in your relationships? What better way to enjoy life more than creating a closer bond with your partner? A few tips to bring your connection deeper:

Intellectually – Stimulate each other’s minds with conversation and discussion that can both inspire and intrigue. Can brains be attractive and sexy? Absolutely!

Shared Activities – Spend more time together on interactions that build a positive memory bank of shared experiences. Examples include playing, cooking, dancing, exercising, art making, traveling, worshipping, and problem solving together.

Emotionally – The ability to express and validate tender, loving emotions, in a manner that’s nourishing and constructive, and being able to respond affirmatively when the other person does the same. For example: “How are you doing?” “How are you feeling?” “I love you,” “I appreciate you,” “I like it when we talk like this,” “you’re very important in my life,” “I’m sorry.”

Physical – Hugging, kissing, caressing, cuddling, holding, and other forms of physical affection. Physical intimacy certainly includes sex but doesn’t have to. As long as other aspects of the relationship remain sound, physical intimacy between partners can often last a lifetime. More Mindfulness

It’s a busy world. Multitasking has become the norm for many of us. You complete household chores while keeping one eye on the kids and another on the TV. Each day is filled with a never-ending to do list, and in the rush to accomplish all of our daily/weekly/monthly tasks, we find ourselves feeling more distant and losing our connection with the present moment. Mindfulness is defined as a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. As the study of mindfulness has continued, scientists have found it to be a key element in stress reduction and overall happiness. Mindfulness can improve well-being by making it easier to savor the simple pleasures in life while better equipping us to deal with adverse events. It also improves physical health by reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, improving sleep and even reducing chronic pain. And last but certainly not least, the practice mindfulness can help to improve our mental health state by easing depression, anxiety and other common personality disorders. Try one of the mindfulness apps like “Calm” to get your mindfulness journey started so you can better connect with yourself.

More Gratitude

“Don’t dwell on the past. Stop feeling sorry for yourself,” we are often told. And while it can be hard to avoid self-pity entirely, mentally strong people choose to exchange self-pity for gratitude. Whether you choose to write a few sentences in a gratitude journal, or simply take a moment to silently acknowledge all that you have, giving thanks can transform your life. By doing so you’ll see an improvement in relationships and interactions with others, and a reduction in physical aches and pains as well as toxic emotions like envy, resentment, frustration and regret. We all have the ability and opportunity to cultivate gratitude. Rather than complain about the things you think you deserve, take a few moments to focus on all that you have. Developing an “attitude of gratitude” is one of the simplest ways to improve your satisfaction with life.

Sticking to new years resolutions can be difficult, but changing one behavior at a time and setting attainable goals each month can help you make 2020 the best year yet. If you stumble, don’t look at it as a failure, see it as an opportunity for learning and to reevaluate your strategy and create a new plan. Remind yourself of exactly why you chose to work towards these goals and what you will achieve in the end. We believe in you and wish you a happy and healthy 2020!!
