Who’s a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive body sculpting treatment. It is not for weight loss, so you should be at or near the weight at which you feel comfortable before scheduling the procedure.

CoolSculpting Treatment Areas

We have a variety of different types of applicators so we can treat various areas of the body where stubborn pockets of fat can build up, including:

  • Abdomen
  • Flanks (love handles or muffin tops)
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Lower and upper back (bra fat)
  • Below the chin (double chin) and jawline
  • Under the buttocks (banana roll)

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

CoolSculpting cools the fat cells just below the skin using specially designed applicators placed on the treatment area. The revolutionary fat freezing process at the core of CoolSculpting’s effectiveness is called cryolipolysis. Harvard University scientists developed this clinically proven process after noticing that cold temperatures targeting fat cells won’t damage surrounding tissue or the skin’s surface. CoolSculpting’s computer-controlled cooling process ensures its safety.

What Is CoolSculpting Elite?

CoolSculpting Elite is the next generation of CoolSculpting technology. Improvements with this system include:

  • Dual applicators on each machine to treat 2 areas simultaneously.
  • A reengineered collection of applicators, some treating up to 18% more surface area, designed to provide a better fit for a variety of treatment areas.
  • Sleeker, more compact machines that take up less space in the treatment room.

What Is Different About the CoolSculpting Elite Applicators?

While the original CoolSculpting had a number of specialized applicators, CoolSculpting Elite has a brand-new collection of applicators, each designed for improved fit, effectiveness, and comfort.

Curve Series

These 4 applicators conform to natural curves for addressing fat under the chin, below the jawline, back fat, bra fat, flanks, abdomen, and under the buttocks (banana rolls). The C-shape cup and enhanced suction treat up to 18% more surface area with increased suction for more even results and faster treatment times.

Flat Series

These 2 applicators are designed to fit straight, vertical areas of pinchable fat on spots such as the upper arms and inner thighs.

Surface

This applicator rests on the skin without suction for treating areas that are difficult to pinch, such as the outer thighs and upper abdomen.

Can Multiple Areas Be Treated at Once?

Yes. With CoolSculpting Elite we can treat 2 areas at the same time.

What is DualSculpting?

DualSculpting is the process of using 2 CoolSculpting machines at the same time. With CoolSculpting Elite, we can treat 4 areas at once, such as the inner and outer thighs on both legs, without adding any treatment time.

What to Expect

The CoolSculpting Elite patient experience is the same as with regular CoolSculpting. Our guests actually use their time during a treatment to browse their mobile devices, read, or even take a nap. That’s because the cooling process numbs the treatment area within about 5 minutes of the procedure’s start. During that time, you may feel some tingling, a pulling sensation, and a bit of discomfort. Depending on the area or areas being treated, the applicators either draw up the targeted fat with suction or are strapped in place (e.g., outer thighs).

Our experienced nurse practitioners can customize the CoolSculpting procedure to meet your unique needs and provide personalized attention to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the procedure. Immediately after the treatment, your provider massages the area to smooth the hardened fat.

How Often Can You Do CoolSculpting Elite?

There is no specific limit to how many times you can treat the same area with CoolSculpting Elite. People often schedule 2 or 3 treatments to get the desired results. You should remember that CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment and won’t tighten loose skin. People who get multiple CoolSculpting treatments should wait at least 6 weeks between sessions.

How Many CoolSculpting Treatments Are Needed?

This is a very common question. The answer depends on your goals and if you’re treating multiple areas. It’s important to know that a single treatment session can include more than one treatment cycle. It’s common for patients to schedule at least 2 treatment sessions.

How Long Does Swelling Last After CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting patients commonly experience swelling after treatment. The degree and duration of swelling varies depending on the patient and the treatment area. Most patients see swelling resolve within a week of their treatment.

CoolSculpting FAQ

How Long Do CoolSculpting Results Last?

You can maintain your CoolSculpting results indefinitely with a healthy lifestyle. When you lose weight naturally, your fat cells shrink. With CoolSculpting, fat cells are destroyed and flushed out of the body. By exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy diet, you can prevent the remaining fat cells in the treatment area from enlarging.

Is CoolSculpting Safe?

When performed by a trained and experienced provider at a reputable facility, CoolSculpting treatments are very safe. The device has several safeguards in place to monitor your skin’s temperature and deliver controlled cooling that harms fat cells, not the skin and surrounding tissues.

Is CoolSculpting Worth It?

Good candidates for CoolSculpting typically consider the treatments worth the cost. It is important that you have realistic expectations and understand the benefits and limitations of CoolSculpting Elite. If you’re already in good shape but have stubborn areas of fat, CoolSculpting is an excellent nonsurgical body contouring option.

Does CoolSculpting Tighten Skin?

Even though skin tightening isn’t the primary purpose of CoolSculpting treatments, some patients see mild improvement in their skin’s firmness after the procedure. The CoolMini™ applicator reduces fat under the chin, but it is also approved by the FDA to tighten lax neck skin.

Does CoolSculpting Work on Belly Fat?

Yes, CoolSculpting can reduce belly fat just below the skin’s surface, called subcutaneous fat. Not all fat, however, is created equal. Another type of fat is called visceral fat. Our bodies store visceral fat deep inside the belly, wrapped around the organs, including the liver and intestines. CoolSculpting is used only to reduce subcutaneous fat. Regular exercise and a healthy diet are the best ways to reduce visceral fat.

Does CoolSculpting Get Rid of Cellulite?

Between 80% and 90% of women have some degree of cellulite, which causes the skin’s dimpled appearance on the thighs, buttocks, and other areas. Even though fat plays a role in cellulite, CoolSculpting treatments don’t reduce cellulite. Cellulite results when fibrous bands connecting your skin to the underlying muscle tighten, pulling down on the skin and pushing the normal layer of fat upward.

How Much Weight Can You Lose From CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting isn’t a weight loss treatment. It targets localized pockets of fat that create visible bulges even when you’re in good overall shape. The best candidates for CoolSculpting treatments are at or very close to their ideal weight and want to tone specific areas of their bodies.

Can You Work Out After CoolSculpting?

Because it’s a nonsurgical treatment, CoolSculpting doesn’t involve any downtime. That doesn’t mean, however, that you’ll feel like hitting the gym immediately after treatment. Patients often feel a bit sore following their appointments and choose to rest a day or two before resuming their regular exercise routines.

Which Is Better, CoolSculpting or Heat Sculpting?

The field of nonsurgical fat reduction is much more crowded today than when CoolSculpting arrived on the market. CoolSculpting revolutionized non-invasive body contouring, “freezing away” fat by lowering the temperature of the fat cells. Other fat reduction options use heat to destroy the fat cells. Even though both techniques produce similar results, CoolSculpting Elite applicators target virtually any area of the body, which isn’t true for most heat sculpting treatments.
