How It Works

The O-Shot uses platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) extracted from your own blood to stimulate the growth of new cells in the clitoris and vaginal walls. The growth factors contained in PRF, which is best known for helping athletes heal more quickly after being injured, naturally generates new tissue. As with wound or injury healing, the rejuvenation of the roof of the vagina and the clitoris involves numerous tissue types, including blood vessels, nerves, smooth muscle fibers, lymph vessels, and connective tissue. Your nurse injects the PRF directly into the vaginal area after applying a numbing cream to ensure comfort during the procedure.

The treatment is extremely safe, and patients report few side effects. It’s important, however, that the provider is highly skilled and injects the PRF with precision.

What to Expect

Your nurse begins the O-Shot procedure by drawing your blood. We then use an FDA-approved centrifuge to spin the blood and extract the platelet-rich fibrin that will be used in the shot. After numbing the clitoral area with a topical anesthetic, the nurse uses a fine needle to inject the PRF near the clitoris and into the wall of the vagina. The goal is to stimulate the growth of new cells and blood vessels and to make the injected areas thicker, more vascular and more sensitive. The effects can last up to 1 year, and you can schedule O-Shots annually, if desired. The O-Shot procedure takes about 30 to 45 minutes and doesn’t require any downtime.

Even though the O-Shot can provide excellent results on its own, some patients can benefit from combining the procedure with the diVa® vaginal rejuvenation treatment.
