When it comes to nonsurgical procedures, few treatments are more popular than dermal fillers and BOTOX® Cosmetic at our med spa in Vero Beach. These easy injectable treatments rejuvenate the skin by smoothing away wrinkles or plumping up thinning trouble spots.

However, every patient is unique, and sometimes you may not know which procedure is right for you. Curious which works best for your needs—BOTOX vs dermal fillers? Keep reading and take our quiz below to find out.

Understanding Dermal Fillers vs BOTOX

While BOTOX and dermal fillers are both go-to tools for turning back the clock, they each work differently. BOTOX, Dysport®, and other neuromodulators temporarily paralyze muscles to reduce dynamic wrinkles like forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. On the other hand, popular dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® help smooth static wrinkles, but they are the preferred option for plumping and restoring volume to cheeks, under eyes, and other aging facial features. In addition to sculpting facial contours, dermal fillers are also used to achieve fuller lips.

BOTOX results appear gradually and usually last 3 to 4 months, while dermal filler results typically appear immediately and last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the treatment area and type of filler used.
