Eyelash Extension Before and After Photos
What Are Lash Extensions?
Lash extensions provide you with long, feathery eyelashes without the inconvenience and mess of applying mascara. Lash extensions are nothing like “fake” eyelashes or falsies. Lash extensions are individual, synthetic lashes of different lengths, curls, and thicknesses (or weights) that are cut in the shape of natural lashes and applied one at a time.
What to Expect
The appointment begins with a discussion about your specific goals. Some clients want just a boost for an everyday look, while others are looking for results that are more dramatic, especially if they want to look their best for a special event. After getting the details about your aesthetic goals, the process of attaching the extensions begins. The traditional lash extension process—the classic fill—involves attaching lash extensions individually to the existing lashes.
We also offer volume lash extensions. A volume fill is an innovative technique that involves attaching multiple extensions to one lash to give more dimension and texture. It provides a fuller look and requires a level of expertise that sets Lovely Artistry apart from other lash extension providers. We can create custom fans of multiple lashes to put on each hair—you can have anywhere from 2 to 6 extensions attached to each individual natural lash, depending on how dramatic you want to go.
Whether you choose a classic or volume fill, our application process is designed to be luxurious and peaceful. To successfully apply an extension to each lash, it can take up to 1.5 hours. You should come to the appointment with clean lashes and not wearing contacts.
Caring for Your Extensions
Properly maintaining your lashes will keep them looking great. Some tips for taking care of your extensions include:
- Brush and groom your lashes gently with a disposable mascara spoolie or eye shadow brush (best choice).
- Try to sleep on your back or side, to avoid smashing your lashes when you sleep.
- Apply night creams or serums sparingly and blot off excess.
- When you touch your lashes, always use upward, sweeping motions, rather than side-to-side rubbing at the lash line.
- Keep your fingers off your lashes. Your fingers transfer natural oil and germs each time you touch them.
- If you do apply mascara, limit the application to the tips of the lashes.
You’ll need to avoid getting wet for 24 to 48 hours after the lash extensions are applied. That means no strenuous activities that will result in excessive sweating, no showering, or steam rooms.
Eyelashes shed naturally, which means you will need to come in for a fill every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain the lush appearance. Clients who wait more than 4 weeks or who have less than 30% of their extensions remaining will need a full set of extensions during their touch up appointments.
